Hitchhiker’s Fan

As a Hitchhiker’s fan, it was irresistible to work with Eoin on the concept, having thought we would never see another Hitchhiker’s book after Douglas Adams died. The idea of mixing literature and design is intoxicating and it is to the credit of Fritz Hansen and Eoin’s publishers, that we were given the space to be creative. Emily, Jackie, Eoin and I had many an enjoyable lunch plotting this chair. Lunch can be underrated for its creativity potential! That Jane Belson, Douglas’ widow, gave her blessing to our project was the icing on the cake. I hope we have achieved a good design that is respectful to all the elements and people involved in the project past and present. I am waiting patiently to read And Another Thing…and celebrating 30 years of Hitchhiker’s.’ ”
